 Venezuela

Venezuela is a country on the northern coast of South America. Caracas is a coastal city near the Venezuela Highlands. Being the capital, 3.2 million, out of the 28.2 million people total, live in Caracas. Possibly because of its coastal residence it is the most populated city in Venezuela. The climate in Venezuela tends to be hot with temperatures lying between 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit (Goway Travel). It is also a humid country with the temperature becoming more moderate at higher altitudes (World Bank). The geography of Venezuela is pretty diverse because of the four different regions. Venezuela has Highlands and Maracaibo lowlands as well as flatland in Orinoco. The average precipitation is 400 mm but the amazonian region in Venezuela actually gets 4,000 mm (World Bank). Some of the most popular cities in Venezuela are Maracaibo, Guayana, Barquisimeto, and Caracas.

Natural Disasters

There are natural processes that happen like an earthquake or a volcano. When these natural processes affect people is when it becomes a natural disaster. For example, an earthquake runs through a town or city or one of the most famous examples of a volcano disaster, Pompeii. Natural hazards can occur anywhere especially with earthquakes. To be considered a natural disaster there has to be 100 people affected and 10 people dead as well as a state of emergency in which international assistance is required. A disaster happens over a certain time span too. This changes when it gets to a catastrophe because that is when it takes years to recover and a large amount of money is put into fixing what the catastrophe destroyed.
